Students will leave the course with the required certificate to finalize and submit their Florida Concealed Weapon License application through the FDACS (Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services)

What should you expect?

Practical Training

In your class, you will learn proper firearm handling skills, weapon safety, and firearms laws. As part of all of our classes, we focus on day-to-day situations such as firearms storage, safety around children, and concealed carry.

Knowledgeable Instructors

All of our instructors are certified by the NRA. Each instructor is well versed in self-defense, both inside and outside the home. The knowledge they impart will give you the foundation to feel comfortable carrying your firearm to the places you go.

Everyday Safety

Safety both in the class and out is a top priority for all of our instructors. In our Florida CWL classes, students may not bring their own ammunition or firearm. We will provide training ammunition and indoor safe firearms for the shooting portion of the class.

Why Florida's Permit

Florida only allows concealed carry of a firearm with a permit. The permit must be a Florida permit or a resident permit from a state that Florida honors. This means the Florida Concealed Weapons License is the only legal way for a Florida resident to conceal a firearm in Florida. With this license you can carry more than just a handgun, the Florida Concealed Weapons License allows you to carry electronic weapons or devices, tear gas guns, knives, and billies, along with a handgun. Florida is also one of the best permits to have as it makes traveling across state lines easier. Florida's permit is honored in 35 different states. After the course is completed, all you need to do is have your fingerprints done and apply (either in person, online, or by mail) through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Common Questions

After completing my Florida Concealed Weapon License class, what else is left to do?

Once you have completed the ASDI Florida Concealed Weapon License course, you are going to apply for the license through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS). You can apply online, in person, or by mail. To apply in person, you will want to make an appointment at a regional FDACS office or an authorized Florida Tax Collectors office in your area. To apply by mail, you will need to download the application instructions as well as the application to fill out and submit to the FDACS. To apply online follow the instructions at this link. With any method of application, you will need to have fingerprinting done. Instructions for fingerprinting can be found here.

Does the Florida Concealed Weapon License class include range time or a shooting qualification?

Yes, Florida requires that firearms safety or training courses have a live-fire component of the training. The instructor must maintain records certifying that he or she observed each student safely handle and discharge a firearm in his or her physical presence and that the discharge of the firearm included live fire using a firearm and ammunition.

While our classes have a heavy focus on laws, regulations, and self-defense scenarios, our class will include a short live-fire section. For this section, we provide training ammunition and indoor safe firearms. This allows for the shooting portion to be completed at the same venue during the class.

Can I obtain a Florida non-resident Concealed Weapon License?

Yes, Florida does issue non-resident permits. Florida will issue permits to non-residents who meet the requirements to receive a permit. The Florida permit is a great one to obtain because it has reciprocity with 35 other states. Florida non-residents will apply for the permit through the same process that residents do. All of our classes meet the requirements for Florida residents and non-residents to obtain their Florida Concealed Weapons License.
