Can I carry in California with the Utah Non-Resident Permit?

No, California does not honor concealed weapons permits from other states. Until national reciprocity passes a California license is the only way to legally carry concealed in the state. California licenses are difficult or impossible for some to get making Utah's Concealed Carry Permit the best alternative for concealed carrying when outside of California.

How does national reciprocity effect this?

With Donald Trump in the White House, national reciprocity could become a reality. National reciprocity proposes to allow anyone with a concealed carry permit to carry in all 50 states. Unfortunately, this law won’t make getting a California permit any easier. If this law passes, getting a Utah Non-Resident Concealed Firearms permit will likely be the best way to legally carry nationwide for many Californians. There is no need to wait; you can get your Utah permit now in anticipation for the passage of "The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act."
