Why North Dakota’s Concealed Weapon License?
North Dakota allows eligible individuals to carry concealed without a license if they are not otherwise precluded from possessing a Class 2 firearm and dangerous weapon license and possess a valid driver’s license or nondriver identification card issued by the Department of Transportation or their state or territory of residence. However, a North Dakota Concealed Weapon License remains valuable for those who want formal training, proof of competency, and reciprocity benefits when traveling. North Dakota offers both Class 1 and Class 2 concealed weapon licenses. A Class 1 license requires the applicant to be at least 21 years old and complete classroom instruction, an open-book test, firearm familiarity requirements, and an actual shooting or certified proficiency exercise. A Class 2 license is available to applicants at least 18 years old and requires successful completion of the open-book test, but Class 1 license holders may receive reciprocal rights in more jurisdictions.
This class provides the training and testing needed to apply for your North Dakota Class 1 Concealed Weapon License under North Dakota Century Code § 62.1-04-03. After class, students can continue the application process through the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation by submitting the required application materials, identification, fingerprints, fees, and supporting documentation. North Dakota law states that the Bureau of Criminal Investigation must process the application and make a determination within 60 days of receiving a properly completed application, and the license is valid for five years.
