Our Oklahoma (SDA) courses provide all the required training needed to apply for an Oklahoma concealed handgun license. Classes are led by CLEET-certified instructors who also hold professional credentials through the NRA/USCCA. Throughout the course, our goal is to ensure that each participant gains a strong understanding of Oklahoma firearm regulations, use-of-force laws, and the responsibilities that come with carrying a concealed handgun. The training is structured to develop confidence and real-world readiness. We will cover common self-defense situations in detail and go through them point by point, outlining what to do and what not to do. You will need to bring a firearm and ammo for the live-fire requirement, or you may rent a gun and pay for ammo at the range. At the conclusion of the class, each participant will leave with the required certificate of completion and guidance on where to obtain fingerprints and how to finalize and submit their application through the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

Everyday Safety

Safety is our number one priority in class and out. To ensure everyone's safety, no live ammunition is permitted in the classroom. We are dedicated to making firearms ownership safe and enjoyable.

Why Oklahoma's Permit?

The Oklahoma Self-Defense Act (SDA) is a widely recognized permit that can offer added legal benefits for responsible firearm owners. Recognized in many other states through reciprocity agreements, it allows qualified individuals to lawfully carry a concealed firearm while traveling across much of the United States (depending on each state's laws). To obtain an SDA license, applicants must complete an approved firearms safety and legal training course and meet Oklahoma's eligibility requirements. The course covers safe firearm handling, legal responsibilities, and real-world carry considerations, along with a live-fire qualification. Oklahoma offers an affordable application process with affordable application fees of $100 for a 5-year permit or $200 for a 10-year permit, and a renewal cycle every five or 10 years.

Common Questions

Does this class meet all the requirements for the Oklahoma SDA?

The Oklahoma SDA requires two sections: an 8-hour classroom learning and live-fire training. The class goes over laws and use of deadly force, handgun use and safety, non-violent dispute resolutions, and safe storage. This class is compliant with Oklahoma state code 21 § 1290.14 outlining class requirements.

Why do I need an SDA permit if Oklahoma has constitutional carry?

While Oklahoma does have constitutional carry, an SDA (Self-Defense Act) license allows you to carry in more places where permit-less carry may be restricted. It also makes it easier to travel with your firearm to other states that recognize Oklahoma’s SDA license through reciprocity. In some cases, having a permit can help streamline firearm purchases and reduce potential delays. Lastly, the SDA course provides valuable education on Oklahoma use-of-force laws, de-escalation, and the responsibilities that come with owning and carrying a firearm.

What do I need to bring with me to the class? Should I bring a firearm?

For the classroom portion, bring a valid Oklahoma driver’s license or state ID. During the live-fire segment, held at one of our partner shooting ranges, you may bring your own firearm along with at least 50 rounds of ammunition. If you don’t have a firearm, rentals are typically available at the range for an additional fee paid directly to them. Ammunition can be purchased ahead of time or at the range, but it’s a good idea to arrive early if you plan to rent a firearm or buy ammo onsite.
