Frequent Questions About Montana Standard Concealed Carry Permit.
Does the Montana class qualify me to receive an Arizona Concealed Carry Permit?
Yes, all ASDI Montana Concealed Carry classes also qualify you for the Arizona non-resident permit. The Arizona non-resident permit benefits Montana residents by allowing them to legally carry in Delaware & New Mexico in addition to the 34 states that honor Montana's permit.
What do I need to do after the class to get my Montana permit?
This class is the only class required to get your Montana Concealed Weapons Permit. Once you have completed the class, you will receive a certificate that meets the requirements of Montana Statute MCA 45-8-321 for obtaining a Concealed Weapons Permit. You will take that to your local sheriff's office. There, they will photograph you and help you submit your application. Some sheriffs' offices require you to make an appointment in advance. Once submitted, if you meet all qualifications, your permit will show up in the mail 60-90 days later.
Can I carry in Montana with a non-resident concealed carry permit from another state?
Yes, however, Montana does place three requirements on the permits that it will accept. The first requirement is that the state that issued the permit must require a criminal records background check before issuing a permit. The second requirement is the permit must be in the holder’s possession. Lastly, the permit holder must have photo identification. All of those requirements must be met for your permit to be valid.
