Why Colorado's Permit?

If you are a Colorado resident, the Colorado CHP is the only way you can legally carry a concealed firearm in Colorado. Not only that, but the Colorado concealed weapons permit is honored in 35 states, making it one of the best permits to have in your wallet. This class is the only class required for you to get your permit. After the classroom portion and the live-fire exercise are completed, all you need to do is go to your local sheriff's office to submit your application and complete the process. Colorado is a shall-issue state, meaning as long as you complete the class and meet the qualifications, your sheriff will issue you a permit.

Yes, our course fully complies with Colorado House Bill 24-1174, signed into law in 2024. All new requirements, effective July 1, 2025, will be strictly followed to ensure our students are thoroughly prepared before submitting their concealed carry permit applications to their local sheriff's office. The course includes eight hours of in-person instruction, live-fire training at a shooting range, and both written and live-fire competency exams. All instruction is provided by Colorado-verified instructors certified through a county sheriff's office.

Once you have completed the class, you will receive a certificate that meets the requirements of Colorado HB24-1174 for obtaining a Concealed Handgun Permit. This certificate is valid for 1 year following your class date. You will take that to your local sheriff's office. Some sheriffs' offices require you to make an appointment in advance; your instructor at your class will let you know about your specific county's policies. Once submitted, your permit will show up in the mail.

What do I need to bring with me to the class? Should I bring a firearm?

For the classroom portion, please bring a valid Colorado state ID card or driver's license. For the live-fire portion of the training, which takes place at one of our partner shooting ranges, students need to bring their own firearm and at least 50 rounds of ammunition. If you do not own a firearm, rentals will be available at the range on the day of training for an additional fee, paid to the range.
