Our Texas License to Carry (LTC) courses provide all the training required to apply for a Texas concealed handgun license. Each class is taught by Texas DPS-certified instructors and also maintains professional credentials through the NRA/USCCA. In the course, we will strive to ensure that each participant leaves with a solid understanding of Texas firearm regulations, use-of-force laws, and the responsibilities that come with carrying a concealed handgun. Our instruction is designed to build confidence and practical preparedness. We will discuss self-defense scenarios and go through them point by point, outlining what to do and what not to do. Finally, we will ensure everyone leaves with the required Texas LTC-104 and clear guidance on where to complete the shooting qualification for the Texas LTC, along with instructions on where to get fingerprints and how to finalize and submit their application through the Texas Department of Public Safety.

What should you expect?

Practical Training

During your course, you will learn safe firearm-handling skills, weapon safety practices, and gain an understanding of firearms laws. Our training emphasizes real-life situations, including secure firearm storage, safety considerations around children, and the fundamentals of concealed carry.

Knowledgeable Instructors

All of our instructors hold Texas Verified Instructor credentials from the Texas DPS and maintain certifications through NRA/USCCA. Each brings extensive experience in self-defense practices for both home and public settings. Their instruction provides a strong foundation, helping you feel confident carrying your firearm.

Everyday Safety

Safety is our number one priority in class and out. To ensure everyone's safety, no live ammunition is permitted in the classroom. We are dedicated to making firearms ownership safe and enjoyable.

Why Texas's Permit?

The Texas License to Carry (LTC) is considered one of the most valuable permits in the country. Recognized in more than 37 states, it allows permit holders to lawfully carry concealed firearms across much of the United States. To qualify for the permit requires a four-hour classroom course focused on firearm safety and legal responsibilities, along with a shooting proficiency test. With affordable application fees of $40.00 and a renewal cycle every five years, the LTC is cost-effective to obtain and maintain. Texas also issues permits to non-residents, provided they meet the same qualifications as residents and complete the required training within the state.

Why Train with ASDI?

With ASDI, getting your concealed carry permit is simple, straightforward, and budget-friendly; our Texas LTC costs just $40.00. All you do is show up, and we will guide you through every step. Instead of handing you a certificate and sending you off, we will make sure you know exactly what to do next. And when you are ready for the shooting portion, we will connect you with one of our trusted partners to complete it.

Common Questions

Does this class meet all the requirements for the Texas LTC?

The Texas LTC requires two sections. Our course fully covers all the classroom material required to receive the Texas LTC. The class goes over laws and use of deadly force, handgun use and safety, non-violent dispute resolutions, and safe storage. The course includes four hours of in-person instruction. The live-fire component is completed on your own time, but we can direct you to one of our Texas-certified partner ranges to complete the shooting. There is no specific deadline for how long you have to complete this portion, but we recommend completing the process within a year of your class.

Why do I need an LTC permit it Texas has constitutional carry?

While Texas does have constitutional carry, LTC allows you to carry in more places where permit-less carry is not allowed. It also allows you to travel with your firearm to other states that reciprocate with the Texas LTC. Having a permit can speed up firearms purchases and make for a quicker and smoother transaction. Lastly, it gives you the education and knowledge of use-of-force laws, de-escalation, and teaches you the responsibility that comes with owning and carrying a firearm.

What do I need to bring with me to the class? Should I bring a firearm?

For the classroom portion, please bring a valid Texas state ID card or driver's license. For the live-fire portion of the training, which takes place at one of our partner shooting ranges, students can bring their own firearm and at least 50 rounds of ammunition. If you do not own a firearm, rentals should be available at the range on the day of training for an additional fee, paid to the range. Ammunition can be purchased in advance or onsite; we recommend arriving early if you need to rent a firearm or buy ammunition at the range.
