All of our Minnesota Permit to Carry courses provide the training needed to apply for a Minnesota Permit to Carry a Pistol. Minnesota Statute § 624.714 requires applicants to show evidence of training in the safe use of a pistol within one year of an original or renewal application, and that training may be completed through a firearms safety or training course taught by a certified instructor. Each class is designed to help students leave with a solid understanding of Minnesota firearm regulations, self-defense laws, use-of-force considerations, safe pistol handling, and the responsibilities that come with carrying a pistol. Our instruction is designed to build confidence and practical preparedness. Minnesota law requires basic training to include instruction in the fundamentals of pistol use, successful completion of an actual shooting qualification exercise, and instruction in the legal aspects of pistol possession, carry, and use, including self-defense and restrictions on the use of deadly force. Students will leave with the required certificate of completion needed to continue the Permit to Carry application process through the appropriate sheriff’s office.

Why Minnesota's Permit?
Minnesota does not have constitutional concealed carry, so a Minnesota Permit to Carry is generally required to carry a pistol in public or in a motor vehicle. The permit is valuable for residents who want formal training, legal education, proof of competency, and the ability to carry in states that recognize Minnesota’s permit.
This class provides the required training needed to apply under Minnesota Statute § 624.714. After class, students will receive proof of training and can submit their application packet to the sheriff, including the completed application, proof of training, and required identification. Minnesota is a “shall issue” state, and the sheriff must issue or deny the permit within 30 days of receiving the completed application packet.
