What are Texas's LTC Requirements?

To be eligible for the Texas LTC you must:

  • Be 21+ years-old
  • Complete the 4-hour ASDI LTC classroom course
  • Complete the live-fire component with 70% efficiency
  • Pay the required fees to the Texas DPS of $40
  • Complete your fingerprints through Identogo
  • Must be able to pass an FBI background check with no felonies or violent crimes

What is the total cost of the Texas LTC?

The current total cost to obtain a Texas LTC is as follows:

  • ASDI course fee: $40.00 
  • Texas DPS background check fee: $40.00
  • IdentoGO fingerprints: $10
  • Shooting qualification: $50-$100
  • Total cost: $140-190

How long is the Texas LTC course

The Texas License to Carry is a four-hour classroom-based course. 

What do I need to bring to the Texas LTC class?

For the 4-hour classroom portion, you just need to bring your driver's license.
