Our Instructors are NRA certified with all the knowledge and experience needed to teach you everything you will need to know. In our course, we will discuss self-defense scenarios and go over step by step what to do and what not to do. Our goal is not to just help you check off all the requirements to get your license; we want to ensure that our students leave the class feeling comfortable and confident in their knowledge of Arizona, Oregon, and Washington concealed carry and self-defense laws, ready to go out and conceal carry. Students will leave the course with the required certificate and instructions, ready to finalize and submit their applications for Arizona and/or Oregon as well as an I-1639 card.

After completing my Multi-State CCW/I-1639 course, what else is left to do?

After completing your Multi-State CCW/I-1639 class, you will be certified to apply for the Oregon and Arizona permits. While Washington does not require training to get the concealed pistol license, we will go over what that process looks like so students are informed of what the next steps are if they have not applied already. You will go ahead and call or check the website of your local law enforcement agency and verify you live in their jurisdiction, then ask for a Concealed Pistol License Application. You will need a valid  state driver’s license or ID card. You will pay fees with cash or check/money order payable to the law enforcement agency and they will complete the fingerprints and background check. The license is valid for 5 years after the date it is issued. Once you complete the class, you will also have completed your I-1639 training and will be able to purchase a semi-automatic rifle

What is I-1639?

In November of 2018, Washingtonians adopted Initiative I-1639 which made some changes to Washington firearm law. Under Initiative I-1639 to buy a semi-automatic assault rifle, a Washington resident must provide proof that they have completed a recognized firearm safety training program in the last five years including instruction on basic firearm safety, secure gun storage, the safety of children and firearms, suicide prevention, safe handling, and state and federal firearm law.  These restrictions also include background checks and waiting periods for purchasing semiautomatic assault rifles.

How does Washington define “semi-automatic assault rifle”

Washington defines “semi-automatic assault rifle” as any rifle which utilizes a portion of the energy of a firing cartridge to extract the fired cartridge case and chamber the next round, and which requires a separate pull of the trigger to fire each cartridge. This does not include antique firearms, any firearm that has been made permanently inoperable, or any firearm that is manually operated by bolt, pump, lever, or slide action.

What is the total cost of receiving a Washington concealed handgun license?

The cost of getting a Washington concealed pistol license consists of the $36 fee plus the fingerprinting fee which can vary by law enforcement agency.
