What does the class include?
Our Indiana Handgun Carry & Use-of-Force class is designed to help students build the knowledge and confidence to carry responsibly in Indiana. Although Indiana allows permitless carry for eligible individuals and does not require a class to carry or apply for an Indiana License to Carry a Handgun, or LTCH, many residents still choose to obtain an LTCH for travel and reciprocity purposes. This law-focused course covers Indiana firearms carry law, including IC 35-47-2-1, Justifiable Use of Force under IC 35-41-3-2, self-defense legal principles, conflict avoidance, situational awareness, legal responsibilities, defensive mindset, and practical carry considerations. This class does not cover handgun operation, ammunition knowledge, shooting fundamentals, or safe firearm storage.

Indiana allows permitless carry for eligible individuals as of July 1, 2022, but many residents still choose to obtain an Indiana License to Carry a Handgun, or LTCH, especially for reciprocity when traveling outside the state. Whether you choose to apply for an LTCH or carry under Indiana’s permitless carry law, you are still responsible for knowing when, where, and how Indiana law applies. This law-focused class covers Indiana firearms carry law, including IC 35-47-2-1, Justifiable Use of Force under IC 35-41-3-2, legal responsibilities, conflict avoidance, situational awareness, defensive mindset, and practical carry considerations. Our USCCA/NRA-certified instructors explain these topics in a clear, practical way and walk students through real-world self-defense scenarios, including what to do, what not to do, and what legal considerations may apply before, during, and after a defensive incident. Students should leave class feeling more comfortable, confident, and informed about Indiana handgun carry and use-of-force law, while understanding that this class does not cover firearm safety, safe handling practices, handgun operation, ammunition knowledge, shooting fundamentals, or safe firearm storage.

Why take an Indiana Handgun Carry & Use-of-Force Class class if it is not required?
Indiana allows eligible individuals to carry a handgun without a permit, but that does not mean training and legal education are unnecessary.
